February 25th & 26th

If you're child has been excited to brush his/her teeth lately that's because our them this past week was Dental Health. Students learned about the importance of brushing those "sugar bugs" away. Our letter of the week was X and students got some practice counting. See what the kiddos were up to by looking at the photos below.

Practicing brushing "sugar bugs" away.

Students painted tooth puppets with tooth brushes. Mrs. Kendra added white glitter to the white paint so those teeth would sparkle.

Counting crocodile teeth and matching the number of teeth to the correct number. These kiddos are super smart!

Thank you, Dr. Lindsay, for coming in and teaching us about brushing and flossing our teeth, and for the goody bags you sent home with each student. She also taught us what foods are best to eat to keep our teeth healthy.

Dr. Lindsay passed around extra big teeth and an extra large toothbrush for the kiddos to see.

Since the weather hasn't allowed us to go outside much, we decided to do Neighborhood Time with Mrs. Laura's class. The door in the back of the room, between the 2 classrooms, was opened so students could go back and forth to each room for a period of time. This was great for the students because they got to play with different friends and different toys!

Easter will be here before we know it, so we started on an adorable Easter craft that involved having the kiddos' feet painted. (Someone's ticklish, don't ya think?)

Strengthening their fine-motor skills. Students used tweezers to pick up tiny marshmallows and move them from the plate to the bowl. This is something you could do at home with your little one.

Puzzle time with Mrs. Karen.

The finished product!

Using different manipulatives to make our brains super-smart!

February 18th & 19th

This week students had a BLAST learning about outer space! They learned amazing space facts and made some neat crafts. Ask your child if he/she knows what planet we live on, or what you call someone who goes to outer space. Also, see if they remember why people float in space. These are some of the cool things your little one learned this week. Check out the photos and captions below for more!

Ordering rockets from biggest to smallest.

A group of stars is called a constellation. (Students learned that big word, too.) Each kiddo created their very own constellation and gave it a name based on what they thought it looked like. All of them used their imaginations very well! You can find your child's constellation on the bulletin board outside of our classroom.

Students put their number sense into overdrive with Mrs. Kendra's counting activity on Thursday. Students had to "string" a certain number of beads onto each pipe cleaner. Not only was this a great counting activity, but it was also wonderful for the students' fine motor skills. You can repeat this activity at home by taking the beads off, or you can tape the end of the pipe cleaner down that is not already taped and you have a homemade abacus!

Everyone loved trying on the space helmet! Aren't they the cutest astronauts you've ever seen?

Spiderman or astronaut? Astronaut or Spiderman? He's one busy guy!

Practicing tracing.

Students learned the letter U this week.

Friday's craft. Each child will bring home their own shooting star!

"He counts the stars and calls them all by name."

February 11th & 12th

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We had a lot of fun celebrating this holiday with our friends!
Thanks to all of the grown-ups who came in to help us celebrate on Friday!

February 4th & 5th

This week's theme was Community Helpers and the letter of the week was CStudents talked about different jobs people have in their community and they thought about the type of job they would like to have when they grow up. I must say, we have some very ambitious preschoolers. :)

This week the students got some great practice tracing and writing their first names independently. Our class is full of smart kiddos! All of them know what letter their name begins with and many of them can spell their whole name. Everyone can also identify their name when they see it written. We are so proud of them!

We had a special visitor from our community on Friday...she works at the local animal shelter! She brought in two therapy dogs with her and taught the students when and how to approach a dog, whether that dog is their own or someone else's. Then everyone got the chance to pet one of the sweet pups! It's definitely the highlight of community week.
